Thompson Pharmacy MedSync Now Available!

Medication synchronization involves a Thompson Pharmacy pharmacist looking at a patient’s medications and then syncing them all up for pick-up on a single, convenient day each month. It also creates an opportunity for pharmacists to provide a monthly check-in call before the patient comes in, and medication therapy management (MTM) during the appointment.

MedSync FAQs

Which prescriptions are eligible for MedSync?​ We can coordinate your regular prescriptions (excluding controlled substances) that can be refilled every 30 days and that are filled at the same pharmacy. Call or visit your pharmacy if you have questions on prescription eligibility.

What is an alignment fill? ​An alignment fill is a small amount of medication that helps get refills on the same schedule. We’ll only prepare an alignment fill if it looks like you’ll run out of medication before it is picked up with the rest of your MedSync order. Depending on when you last filled that medication, your alignment fill may be ready b​efore​or a​fter​your next scheduled MedSync pickup date. There may be a cost or copay for alignment fills, depending on your insurance. Your pharmacy team will discuss with you if necessary.

Can I change my MedSync pickup date?​ Working together with you, your Thompson Pharmacy team will suggest your first pickup date. Once MedSync starts, based upon the date you pick up your MedSync order, your prescriptions will be refilled on a recurring 30­day schedule.

​Can I set up more than one pickup date for myself? ​We can only set up one MedSync pickup date per person. If you would like to pick up eligible prescriptions at a different time for some reason, it would be best if you do not add them to your MedSync list.

Can all of my family’s prescriptions be refilled on the MedSync pickup date?​ Your Thompson Pharmacy team will work with you to get everyone’s prescriptions on or close to the same day. If you want to use the same pharmacy, make sure that eligible prescriptions are refilled there. If a prescription is filled at another pharmacy you can easily transfer that prescription to the pharmacy of your choice for MedSync.

Does it cost anything to sign up for MedSync?​ No, MedSync is a service provided at no cost to you. However, your insurance may require a copay or may not cover the full cost of any alignment fills you need. To align prescriptions on a 30­day cycle, one or more additional copays may be required by your plan. Your pharmacy team member will discuss with you if necessary.
